01 — Origin
Founded on the belief that clarity is the highest form of sophistication.
Atelier Nord was founded in Zurich in 2017 by Elara Strom after a decade leading brand programs at studios in Switzerland and the United Kingdom. The practice was built around a single conviction: that the most lasting design work is the work that has been most rigorously thought through.
We are a small studio by intention. We do not scale by adding bodies to projects. We scale by deepening our understanding of the problems we are asked to solve.
Our practice is organized around the Swiss editorial tradition — not as aesthetic nostalgia, but as a methodology. Grid systems, typographic hierarchy, and structural rigor are not constraints to work around. They are the tools that make complex communication possible.

The Team
Elara Strom
Founder, Creative Direction
Elara founded Atelier Nord in 2017 after a decade leading brand programs at studios in Zurich and London. She is obsessed with the relationship between typographic decision and institutional credibility.
Caspar Weil
Senior Designer, Identity
Caspar brings a print-first sensibility to everything he works on. His background in letterpress and type design means he thinks about marks at the level of individual strokes before he considers their systemic function.
Miriam Osei
Strategy Director
Miriam leads all strategy engagements and the naming practice. She writes about branding with a rigor she learned in academia and a directness she learned from ten years of client work.
Henrik Nass
Designer, Editorial + Motion
Henrik's practice spans print editorial and motion, with a particular interest in how time-based media can be designed with the same structural logic as a page.
