Why is my website not showing on Google?
Quick answer
It is usually one of a few things: the site is new and not yet indexed, a "noindex" tag or robots.txt is blocking Google, there is no content targeting what people search for, or the site lacks the authority to rank above competitors. Being listed (indexed) and ranking well are two different problems — check indexing first.
First separate the two issues. Indexing is whether Google knows your pages exist; ranking is where they appear. Check indexing by searching site:yourdomain.com — if little or nothing shows, you have an indexing problem. The fastest way to diagnose it is Google Search Console, where you can submit your sitemap and request indexing.
Common reasons a site is not indexed: it is brand new and Google has not crawled it yet (this can take days to weeks, so some patience is normal), a "noindex" meta tag or a robots.txt rule is accidentally blocking crawlers, the site is behind a password or staging URL, or you never submitted a sitemap. These are usually quick fixes once found.
If pages are indexed but still not visible, it is a ranking problem: thin or duplicate content, pages that do not target the words people actually search, no backlinks or authority yet, or simply strong competition. The fix is genuine SEO — relevant, well-structured content and earned reputation over time — not a one-off setting.
